If you google for "Exploding phone" you'll find several stories, mostly from China, about cell-phones that have gone off like hand grenades and killed or maimed their users. Anyways, what caused its bloating and what could have happened if we have left it inside the phone. Anyways, I threw it away just in case it would explode or something.
